Yacht Corryvreckan

explores the West Coast of Scotland & the Hebrides

features of the yacht.....

  • CORRYVRECKAN was built in 1990 to a high specification especially for holiday cruises on the West Coast of Scotland. She's big, blue and beautiful. She carries up to ten guests and is equipped for long distance sailing in safety and comfort while fully complying with the Department of Transport Code of Practice for charter yachts.

  • We are delighted to be carrying on a long established tradition and are determined that Corryvreckan will continue to give her guests wonderful sailing holidays in the Western Isles.

  • After eighteen seasons in Scotland (and four Atlantic crossings!) she has proved to have first class sea-going qualities with a good turn of speed. Sailing on Corryvreckan will give you an excellent opportunity to enjoy the excitement of sailing a big modern yacht while her Bermudan ketch rig means that her large sail area is split up into units more easily handled by the crew.

Saloon

  • In the spacious saloon there is comfortable seating on both sides of the boat and a dining table large enough to seat twelve people; plenty of room to relax and enjoy the excellent library which, as well as "holiday reading", includes many reference books on sailing, Scotland and wildlife as well as a good selection of tapes and games

Interior plan

  • Below decks Corryvreckan gives a degree of privacy and space impossible on a smaller yacht. There is full headroom throughout and with the high standard of insulation and central heating the accommodation is kept warm and dry whatever the weather outside. The five two-berth guest cabins all have comfortable full-sized bunks with new mattresses and cosy continental quilts, and there are lots of hatches and portholes to keep them bright and airy. The three toilet compartments all have wash basins and efficient showers with plenty of hot water.

  • Up in the deckhouse, which houses the chart table and navigation instruments, there is space to sit and enjoy the scenery without being exposed to wind and weather. For reasons of safety, comfort and health, smoking is only allowed on deck.

  • The yacht is named after the gulf of Corryvreckan which is about 20 miles South of Oban between the islands of Scarba and Jura. It is a very famous tide race and whirlpool and has many legends connected with it which the skipper may tell you over a glass (or two!) of the local whisky!!
